KATSINA TO PRIORITIZE GIRL CHILD EDUCATION
By Faith Awa Maji, Katsina
Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has renewed commitment to prioritized girl child education.
He made this known in an interview with journalists in Katsina.
According to him, the state of insecurity will not deter him to secure the education of female child in the State.
“Look, we must return our people to school. We should be looked at as if we were defeated. We should not allow ourselves to be defeated. Children must go to school. I think if all of us in the affected states are united and say ok let us go back to school and everybody is in school. How many people will they kidnap? Would they have the infrastructure to hold them? We shouldn’t surrender”.
While answering questions on the recent directive on school resumption that only male students of the boarding schools should resume, Masari said considering the prone nature of female child and after the incident of Kankara students kidnapping, the State is working hard on the security on female hostels to avert further occurrences.
“We are securing the dormitories with all we can think of. Then we can now say at least we have taken what is humanly possible to provide security and return the girls”.
He added that within two weeks, they will complete the work.
“We are more concerned because the girls come from far and wide. We have to do what we can do to secure the area. We must not give up, Gov Masari said.
