KATSINA INFERNO: Governor’s Forum, Sokoto government donates 50 million

GOVERNOR Aminu Tambwal of Sokoto State has on behalf of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, NGF, announced a donation of the sum of 30 million naira and 20 million naira on behalf of his government to Katsina State government.
Aminu Tambwal who was at the Katsina State Government House to sympathized with government and people of Katsina State over the unfortunate fire incident that gutted Katsina Central Market, last week Monday that destroyed billion of naira.
The Sokoto Governor said they were saddened with the incident hence he called on the adversely affected traders at the market to accept the misfortune as the will of God.
“It is unfortunate that so much calamity is befallen our country, see the issue of banditry and now, fire outbreak. We believe the country will, by God’s grace get out of this soon”.
Responding, the Governor of Katsina State Aminu Bello Masari, described the fire incident as the most devastating in the history of fire incidents in the state,
He appreciated NGF and government of Sokoto for the show of love.
In a related development, following the fire outbreak that gutted Katsina Central Market, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has set up a committee to investigate the real cause and make possible recommendations.
He disclosed this to newsmen while playing host to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouq Umar, and some other Daura emirate’s traditional titleholders at the Government House on Sunday.
Governor Masari said the committee would investigate the remote cause of the fire disaster.
The traditional ruler of Daura and his entourage were at Government House Katsina on a sympathy visit to the Governor, government and traders over the unfortunate inferno in the market.
According to Masari, the committee would access the level of the damages, numbers of victims and make recommendations to forestall future occurrence.
He said the government would do everything humanly possible to improve in the physical structure of the market to meet modern standard and to assist the adversely affected traders to reduce their plight.
“We have constituted a committee to find out the remote and immediate causes, access level of damages, those affected and also to see how we can bring improvement to the market in order to forestall similar occurrence.”
He admonished the affected traders to fear Allah and be truthful while enumerating the quantum of properties lost in the inferno to the committee
Earlier on his part, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar expressed shock over the incident and called on the state government and the affected traders to accept the fire incident as the will of God.
