IWD: NYC CELEBRATES WOMEN WORLDWIDE, CHARGES THEM ON CHALLENGING EVIL IN THE SOCIETY

The Nigerian Youth Congress, NYC, has congratulated Women on this special day of their International Day Celebration.
The President, Nigerian Youth Congress, Blessing Akinlosotu who had always advocated for gender equality made this known in a release to journalists today 8th March 2021 in Abuja, Nigeria.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme which is, “ChooseTo Challenge
A challenged”, had got women talking all around the world in a bid to correct the ills worldwide.
Akinlosotu, in his release, had given a brief history about women’s day to get a lot of women informed and see reasons why they should challenge the challenges challenging our co-existence all around the world.
“International Women’s Day, an official state holiday following the success of the October Revolution. Chinese communists took up International Women’s Day in 1922 and officially recognized the holiday following their victory in the Chinese Civil War in 1949. Celebrations remained confined to communist dictatorships and their fellow travelers living in free countries until the United Nations adopted International Women’s Day in 1975. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
“The Soviet Union continued to celebrate the holiday that initiated its empire throughout seven horrifying decades of communist rule as Stalin’s purges, famines, and deportations murdered 50 million Russian subjects; his pact with Hitler initiated World War II; Nikita Khrushchev’s belligerence nearly torched the world in the nuclear holocaust; and the Kremlin enslaved one-sixth of the globe behind an Iron Curtain, to name the highlights.
“There is a curious historical parallel that, just as the first woman plunged mankind from Edenic paradise, International Women’s Day condemned humanity to unprecedented horror in the twentieth century.
“General meeting of the Socialist Second International. German socialist Luise Zietz, alongside communists Clara Zetkin and Kate Duncker, established the event as an annual Women’s Day, moving the date to March for the following year”, he said.
Akinlosotu, in his release applauded the Nigeria First Lady, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari over the giant strides attained in making Nigerian Women proud by supporting Ngozi Okonja Iweala over her appointment as the World Trade Organization’s Director-General, Deputy UN Secretary-General, Amina J. Mohammed, Zainab Ahmed, Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Sadiya Umar Farouq, Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Mariam Yalwaji Katagum, Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Sharon Ikeazor, Honourable Minister of State for Environment, Gbemisola Saraki, Honourable Minister of State for Transportation, Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, Honourable Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
