The current open door policy of Sen. Hope Uzodinma’s government has attracted stakeholders from all backgrounds feel able to approach any of the Governor’s Offices.

On Tuesday the 18th of August, Isu Youth Assembly Executives visited the Office of the Governor on Diaspora Affairs to discuss with Hon. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert, on number of issues that have been lingering for years in Isu Community, such as lack of opportunities, dwindling sporting activities in the schools, inadequate women participation, unsustainable migration, and recently drug abuse.

It is evident that the need for urgent action cannot be ignored any longer, as the cost of continued inaction will be undoubtedly gruesome. Therefore, the meeting agreed on the strategy of engaging the Diasporas from Isu Community, to seek their support on every level. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora, promised to use her platform in ensuring that the concerns of the Isu Youth Assembly are heard; stating that she’s “profoundly concerned about the devastating effects of all of these issues raised”.

She added that, “the correlation between these issues you have all raised and criminality is compelling and we must not ignore this any more”. My Boss is already working assiduously to decrease youth unemployment; he’s working hard to provide amenities and opportunities, this will offer young people a chance to remain in their localities, so I’m confident that with the Diaspora community also playing an active role, Isu’s rehabilitation and recovery will happen sooner rather than later”.

Cmr. Emerenini Ndubuisi, the President General of Isu Youth Assembly, thanked the Governor’s SA for fully engaging with them.

The meeting was adjourned with strong action plan.
