INEC TO CONTINUE VOTER REGISTRATION

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has directed all the Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs and all the electoral officers to carry on with the Continuous Voter Registration CVR until they get further directives from the Commission.
A statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye says that the commission was ready to register all eligible Nigerians that are interested in the electoral process.
It says that additional machines had been deployed to areas where they are experiencing pressure.
On the case at the Federal High Court relating to the terminal date of the CVR, it says that when the case came up on Wednesday 29th June, and was given an accelerated hearing on the request of the Commission before adjourning the matter to next week for hearing.
It noted that the commission would update the public after the court hearing next week.
Okoye said the commission is working assiduously to ensure that all Political Parties, Aspirants, Candidates, and others who applied for the Certified True Copies (CTCs), would soonget them.
On the issue of uploading the list and personal particulars of Nominated Candidates, the statement urges political parties to scrutinize the list very well to avoid mix-ups and duplication of names.
It advises that parties should not wait until the last day which is the 15th of July before uploading the list and personal particulars of their candidates as the portal will shut down at 6 pm on the said date. He also called on political parties that have challenges in uploading the documents to contact the commission’s help desk through the dedicated telephone lines or contact the candidate nomination centre at INEC headquarters.
