According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) mock accreditation will be carried out in Cross River State to test the system’s readiness for the 2023 General Elections on February 25 and March 11, 2023.
This was made known to journalists in Calabar, the State’s Capital, by Anthonia Nwobi, INEC’s Head of Voter Education in Cross River State.
According to Mrs Nwobi, the Mock Polls will take place in the Northern Senatorial District’s Obudu and Ogoja, the Central Senatorial District’s Ikom and Boki, and the Southern Senatorial District’s Calabar Municipality and Bakassi from February 4 to February 11, 2023.
The electoral umpire stated that the exercise was a continuation of their commitment to ensuring a smooth election and that they would take advantage of the chance to evaluate the BVAS system’s dependability claiming that the simulated accreditation will aid in evaluating the BVAS device’s dependability and believability.
The exercise will take place in Alege/Ubang and Obudu Urban 1 in Obudu, in Ogoja, Ogoja Urban 1 and Mbube East 2, in Ikom in Ikom Urban 1 and Olulumo, in Boje and Ogep/Osokom, in Boki and Akim Primary School in Calabar Municipality, in Ishie Town, and in Bakassi, Akwa, and Ambai Ekpa.
