INEC Prepares for Ondo Governorship Election with Training of Supervisory Presiding Officers

The Electoral Institute (TEI) has commenced training for Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) in preparation for the 2024 Ondo State Governorship Election, scheduled for November 16, 2024. This critical training follows closely after the Edo off-cycle election held on September 21, 2024.

Training Objectives

The training aims to enhance the capacity of SPOs to:

– Organize and conduct training on polling and counting procedures
– Effectively perform electoral functions
– Cascade training to Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs)

Dr. Sa’ad Umar Idris, Director General of TEI, emphasized the importance of this training in measuring the commission’s ability to overcome challenges encountered during the Edo elections.

E-Training Platforms

TEI has developed innovative e-training platforms to improve training delivery, including:

– INEC E-school for flexible training programs
– Training BOT, an interactive online tutor on Telegram
– Virtual Training Coordinating and reporting tool

Participants are encouraged to utilize these platforms to enhance their skills.
