INEC Celebrates Retired VEP Director, Mrs. Mary Nkem

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has honored its former Director of Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), Mrs. Mary Nkem, with a heartfelt farewell ceremony. The event, which took place at Valencia Hotel in Abuja on November 27, 2024, celebrated Mrs. Nkem’s 35-year illustrious career with the Commission.

Mrs. Nkem, who retired in October, was visibly moved by the outpouring of love and admiration from her colleagues. She expressed her profound appreciation for the relationships she built and the memories she would carry forward.

National Commissioner, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, lauded Mrs. Nkem’s unwavering commitment and exemplary work ethic. Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, described Mrs. Nkem as a shining example of humility and dedication.

The ceremony featured a succession of dignitaries, including former NAOWA President, Hajiya Salamatu Farouq Yahaya, and Director Research & Documentation, Dr. Ibrahim Sani. They all commended Mrs. Nkem’s calm disposition, leadership style, unwavering dedication, and team spirit.

The evening’s highlight was the cutting of the retirement cake, symbolizing the end of a remarkable chapter and the beginning of a new journey. Mrs. Nkem was presented with series of gifts, representing the profound appreciation of a grateful organization.

Mrs. Nkem’s legacy remains a beacon for those she leaves behind, a vivid reminder that service performed with passion, humility, and integrity is the foundation of a fulfilling life.
