IMO STATE GOVERNOR DROPS 20 COMMISSIONERS

The Gorvernor of Imo State in Nigeria, Hope Uzodinma has sacked 20 commissioners and dissolved the State Executive Council.
This was announced on Wednesday shortly after the State Executive Council meeting in Owerri, the state capital.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy Declan Emelumba told journalists that the reason for the dissolution is to rejig the activities of the state government after one year in office.
He added that out of the 28 commissioners only eight commissioners were left to carry on with their activities.
The commissioners are Health, Information, Tourism, Women Affairs, Works, Finance, Youths and the Ministry of Technology.
The sacking of the 20 commissioners came just one month after the governor reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new Commissioners for Finance and Health.
It will be recalled that Imo state has been embroiled in security crisis in recent times.
Correctional centre and police Headquarters In Owerri were attacked before the hoodlums set ablaze the country home of Uzodinma where property worth billions of Naira including a Roll Royce Phantom was destroyed.
The governor has said repeatedly that the security crisis in the south eastern part of the country, especially Imo state was the handiwork of disgruntled elements.
