HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT TO GROW ECONOMY KNOWLEDGE
Margaret Akpa
The training and capacity building of academics is the second largest project in terms of expenditure, after infrastructural projects.
To boost the overall performance of our tertiary institutions, it has become very important to improve the training and development of academics staff in ways best suited for institutional culture and contexts in Universities as this would boost the creative performance of academics, the reputation of our Universities in Africa and help students develop human capacity and have knowledge in Economy.
Learning, they say, is like a journey. As we all know, the need for improved productivity has become accepted and it depends on efficient and effective training. It has further become necessary in view of advancements in our country universities to meet up with the modern world.
Taking a look at our education sector especially the universities many students here in Nigeria are not fully able to obtain the information and support they need to persevere after graduation. This owes largely to the absence of training and development of academic staff of these universities.
Every one wants to feel knowledgeable after graduation ,hence providing academic staff with training and professional development will boost creativity in jobs performance.
It is based on economy knowledge and human capacity development that after graduation, job performance and productivity will grow.
