Hon Williams gets Senatorial Seat

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has emerged as the winner of the Cross River Central Senatorial District election held on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Hon. Williams who currently representing Yakurr II in the State House of Assembly won the senate seat under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Monday, Williams scored a total of 57,344 to win the Cross River Central Senatorial District election for the first time.

His closest rival, Bassey Eko Ewa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who came second scored 53,453 votes, followed by Patrick Okomiso of Labour Party (LP) who scored 15,874 votes to emerge third.

Declaring the result, Dr Isaac Okeme, INEC Returning Officer for the election said, “I hereby certified that, Williams Eteng Jonah of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared winner and returned elected”.
