Gunmen raid Arthur Jarvis University, abduct one student

A student of Arthur Jarvis University, a private institution belonging to a Gubernatorial Aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, Sir Arthur Jarvis has been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The incident happened around 8:00 pm Tuesday as the men of the underworld invaded the school premises shooting sporadically into the air with students scampering for safety leaving some of them injured.

The final year student whose name is yet to be identified was attacked on her way back from the University canteen in the school premises and whisked away through a bush track.

“The gunmen succeeded in abducting one of them and left another with severe matchet cuts. We understand that the kidnapped student was taken into the nearby forest”, a source said.

The school authorities have released a statement confirming the incident and also urging parents, students and the public to remain calm.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan has swung into action by drafting the Anti-Kidnapping, Anti-Cultism and the Dragon Units of the Police Force into the school to forestall a breakdown of law and order and also secure the release of the kidnapped student.
