FUNAAB PROFESSOR LATEEF OLADIMEJI SANNI INDUCTED AS FELLOW OF THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN SINGAPORE.

Professor Lateef Oladimeji Sanni added new feather to his pool of academic distinctions at the ongoing 21st World Congress of Food Science & Technology as a Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST), 2nd November 2022.

The newly 13th class of outstanding food scientists and technologists inducted as New Fellows of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST) were 27 Scientists from 20 countries, of which Sanni is the only qualified Scientist from an African Institution. Leading credence to the latest global ranking of FUNAAB within the best 10 and Sanni as the second-best researcher in FUNAAB and the 43rd best researcher in Nigeria with 2023 AD Scientific Rankings of 5 193, h-index of 37.

He also published 122 journal articles, 30 books, 30 conference proceedings, 1 patent and recorded highest citation in Google Scholar (5,294, h-index of 37), Scopus 1526, h-index of 20 and Research Gate (3365, h-index 33.15).

Lateef Sanni Lateef earned a Bachelor of Science Degree; Second Class Upper Division in the Department of Food Science and Technology from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1990. In February 1993 and April 1999, he received his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees from the Department of Food Technology at the University of Ibadan. He began as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) in 1993 and was promoted to Professor of Food Science and Technology in 2008. He rose through ranks and became Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) from 2017-2019. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science and the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, among others.

He won the 2008 Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Award for Regional Technology Development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He received the FUNAAB Research Productivity Award (Senior Academic Category) in January 2011 and Most Outstanding International Ambassador in January 2012.

Amongst those in attendance were his teachers and mentors, Prof Olugbenga Ogunmoyela (retired from Bells Univ), Prof Charles Aworh (retired from UI) and Prof Folake Henshaw (FST Dept, FUNAAB).
