France Commends Nigeria’s Anti-Narcotics Efforts, Donates Equipment to NDLEA

The French government has praised Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its impressive track record in combating illicit drugs and narcotics. French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, commended the NDLEA’s operational successes, highlighting its achievements in arrests, seizures, and convictions over the past four years.

Recall that Key Achievements of the NDLEA include; arrests of 57,792, seizures of 9.9 million kilograms and convictions of 10,572.

Ambassador Fonbaustier noted that Nigeria’s accomplishments in the fight against illicit drugs position the country for a strong partnership with France. He emphasized that the NDLEA’s operational successes make it one of the best in the world in combating illicit drugs and narcotics.

In response, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), expressed gratitude for the French government’s donation of operational equipment. He acknowledged the importance of Nigeria-France partnership, particularly following President Bola Tinubu’s recent state visit to France.

Marwa emphasized that the donated equipment will enhance the agency’s work and reiterated earlier requests for special training on investigation and cyber transactions, as well as support for the Alternative Development Project initiative.
