Horse race for the Premier League title
It is always interesting to see how two top teams go neck and neck for a title and that’s exactly what Liverpool and Manchester City have been treating us to.
Liverpool played first when they visited St. James’ Park and it was a lone goal by Nabi Keita that seperated the two teams.
Manchester City travelled to Elland Road to face Leeds United and it was a very comfortable outing for the Cityzens who put 4 past the home with Rodri, Nathan Ake, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho delivering the goods.
City are just a point ahead of Liverpool
Champions League football
Chelsea slipped to a one-nil defeat at Goodison Park against Everton in a match that had bearings on both European football and relegation dog fight.
That defeat means Chelsea have now picked up 7 points out of a possible 18 and are now just 3 points ahead of Arsenal in fourth.
Spurs Outfoxed Leicester
It was another convincing win for Tottenham Hotspur after they beat Leicester City 3-1. Son Heung Min bagged a brace with Harry Kane scoring the other goal as they are determined to push for Champions League till the end of the season.
The Gunners edged Hammers
In a tense game at the Olympic stadium, Arsenal and West Ham United gave their all but it was the goal by Gabriel Magalhaes which gave Arsenal a 2-1 win on the road.
The Gunners are now fourth with 2 points ahead of Tottenham and 3 behind Chelsea.
Relegation dog fight
Norwich were relegated from the Premier League on Saturday after they lost 2-0 to Aston Villa. Dean Smith who took over as boss in November last year after the sack of Daniel Farke couldn’t stop the canaries from going down.
Burnley mounting a survival charge
The Clarets sacked their manager of 11 years, Sean Dyche 2 weeks ago with Mike Jackson taking charge on a Caretaker capacity.
They showed huge strength of character to beat fellow strugglers Watford at Vicarage Road. A result which means that they have won 3 matches in Jackson’s four games in charge and amassed 10 points during his interim tenure. Watford on the other hand became the first side in top-flight history to lose 11 consecutive home league games.
LA LIGA: Madrid claim 35th title
RealReal Madrid C.F. clinched their 35th LaLiga title on Saturday after an impressive 4-0 victory over Espanyol.
It has been a fantastic season in the league with lots of notable performances by Karim Benzema who scored 42 goals & provided 13 assists in 42 official games this season and Vinicius Jr on the other hand hitting 18 goals and providing 14 assists on the way to the title.
Brazilian fullback Marcelo became the most decorated Real Madrid player of all time with 24 titles. His contract is running out in June but no one will ever forget Marcelo he marked an era.
Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti officially became the first manager to win a league in the 5 major leagues in Europe with AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea Football Club, FC Bayern München and Real Madrid C.F.
Barcelona back to winning ways
Memphis Depay and Sergio Busquetts scored to give Barcelona a 2-1 win over Mallorca and register their first win in 3 games.
It was a much needed win for the Catalans at Camp Nou as the result means they are second on the pile and 2 points ahead of Sevilla in third.
Bayern and Dortmund lose
After securing the Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich were stunned at Mewa Arena as they lost to Mainz. The home team ran out 3-1 winners in the game.
Bochum sealed a famous 3-4 win over rivals Borussia Dortmund in an incredible game at the Signal Iduna Park with rave of the moment, Erling Brunt Haaland scoring a hattrick. Bochum won the game to survive the relegation zone.
Trabzonspor claims the Turkish League
There were wild secenes of celebration as fans of Trabzonspor saw their club win the first title in 38 years.
Fans ran on to the pitch before the end of their 2-2 draw against Antalyaspor and then cleared out so the game could be finished.
