FOOTBALL: Oshoala Gets Ballon d’Or Nomination

Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala has added that another feather to her already decorated cap as she has been nominated for the 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or player of the year award.

Oshoala, who plays as a forward for FC Barcelona femeni earned the recognition for her exploits for the Spanish club side where she recently won Spain’s Pichichi (highest goalscorer) award where she scored 20 league goals in 19 appearances- despite being injured for a large part of the season and claiming a domestic treble (the league, Copa del Rey and super cup).

The 27 year old also won the African Women’s Player of the Year for the fifth time and becoming the first person to win the Confederation of African Football (CAF) award five times.

Oshoala was nominated alongside 19 other players including Selma Bacha, Fridolina Rolfo, Vivianne Miedema, Lucy Bronze, Sam Kerr, Christiane Endler, Lena Oberdorf, Kadidiatou Diani, Catarina Macario, Alexia Putellas, Alexandra Popp, Aitana Bonmatí, Wendie Renard, Alex Morgan, Beth Mead, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Millie Bright, Trinity Rodman and Ada Hegerberg.
