FOOD SECURITY: Governor MMutfang Commends CG Audi for Unwavering Commitment in Combating Insecurity as NSCDC Trains 150 Agro Rangers

The Plateau State Governor, Bar. Caleb Manaseh Mutfwang has lauded the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR; for taking pragmatic steps in tackling insecurity most especially in Agricultural Sector across the nation.
The Executive Governor of Plateau State made this known during Passing out Parade of 150 Specially Trained Agro Rangers Squad at the NSCDC Command and Staff College in Jos, Plateau State.
“One of the most reliable organisation tackling insecurity in the Nation is Civil Defence; we have seen a lot of dedication, professionalism and commitment that is why we did not hesitate to let out our voice on the need to increase the number of Trained Personnel in Agro Rangers because they have been doing a fantastic job in the protection of Agricultural Assets of the Nation”.
Commending the NSCDC Boss, Governor Mutfwang said, “Your exposure and wealth of experience has cascaded to the Corps, days are gone when people just sit in the office and work and are not in touch with what is happening globally; However, the NSCDC under your leadership has been repositioned as a Critical Component of the Security Architecture of this Country and I wish you a successful tenure of office”.
Governor Mutfwang further said that: “Farms are Critical National Assets that are cultivated in order to achieve food security and therefore must be protected”.
He noted that the NSCDC through the Agro-Rangers Unit is rendering a great national service by ensuring that farmers/herders conflict which threatens food security are now being reduced to the barest minimum in the State; allowing farmers to be able to cultivate their crops.
The Governor commended the collaborative efforts of the NSCDC and other security agencies who work tirelessly to ensure a peaceful atmosphere where everyone thrives irrespective of tribe, ethnicity or religion.
In the highpoint of the Passing out Parade Ceremony, Gov. Mutfwang officially donated the permanent site for the NSCDC Command and Staff College and pledged that his administration would continue to work in collaboration with the Corps to make the environment more habitable.
In his address, the Commandant General; Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi elucidated that the Agro-Rangers unit is a specialized unit of the Corps responsible for safety and security of farm lands, crops, herds, farmers and herders, he therefore charged the officers and men to be very professional in carrying out their assigned roles.
CG Audi reiterated the need for synergy among security forces to forestall all forms of threats to national security and development stressing that no one agency has a holistic strategy in the fight against the varying security threats being experienced in the country.
The General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander Operations Safe Haven, Major General EF Ayinlola and the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Emmanuel who spoke on behalf of heads of security agencies in the state, congratulated the Corps for the feat achieved and assured of their commitment to support and collaborate with the Corps to achieve their set core mandate.
Notably, the training which lasted for six weeks comprised weapon handling, intelligence gathering, combat craft, an executive course at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Center, Mountain School, Shere Hills among other activities undertaken by 150 officers and men trained.
There were parade, stripping and assembly of various fire arms, simulations and presentation of gifts.
