The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs on Saturday 27th November, 2021 takes sensitization to Nyanya Park.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Engineer Olufunso Olusesan Adebiyi said the purpose of coming is to sensitize transport drivers union, market and community leaders on gender base violence.
The Perm Sec., said the theme for the year is orange the world; end violence against women now
He said ” Each and everyone of us have women as our mothers, wives, sisters or children so we must do everything humanly possible to protect them.”
He frowned at every form of violence and urged the participants to team up to curtain violence in every form.
“Report any signs of violence to the ministry just as you would signal danger to your fellow road users in cases of emergency, he concluded.
Speaking also, a mental health advocate, Lois Tofunmi Aderomose cautioned the participants to avoid alcohol as it affects their mental health.
She added that the influence of alcohol is one among the reasons for sexual abuses
The Deputy Chairman Jos Line, Gideon J.D Leo, commends the ministry for such a wonderful sensitization.
He urged for continuity and sustainability of such advocacy.
Leo added that:
” Been naked is no excuse for rape but the ministry should sensitize parents to encourage their daughters to dress fully covered.”
At parks here, on a daily basis we see ladies extremely half naked and their nakedness attracts us.
If we were not self disciplined we may have attempted to rape them.
