More woes on Nigerian football as FIFA, the world football governing body has slammed an indefinite ban on the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja from hosting matches.

This came after the violence that erupted in the World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Ghana which the Nigerian team failed to secure a place at the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The ill fated incident happened after the match as angry fans invaded the pitch and caused a lot of damage to the Stadium facilities and Joseph Kabungo, a Medical Doctor from Zambia, died during the stampede.

We have no idea what other sanctions FIFA and the regional body CAF could mete out to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for failing to provide adequate security for the game but the too bodies frown at fans encroachment into the field of play.

Earlier, Austin Eguavoen had resigned from his position as head coach of the Nigeria National Team.
