FGN Reiterates its Commitment in Formulating Policies to Train Youth to be Job Creators not Job Seekers

In bid to reduce youth unemployment, the Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to formulating policies aimed at effectively training youth to become job creators rather than job seekers.
The Director of Enterprise Development and Promotion, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Prince Olugbenga Momoh, gave an assurance at the closing of a two-week training workshop held at the National Youth Development Centre in Ode Omu, Osun State on how to generate, design, and write a bankable business plan for youth entrepreneurs.
He explained that the Federal Government has identified unemployment as a major problem confronting the nation’s youth noting that the ability of an entrepreneur to generate and write a bankable business plan is a critical skill in today’s competitive business environment.
“It’s not just about starting a business; it’s also about formulating smart goals and objectives when developing a business plan,” he added.
Mr. Momoh emphasized that a well-structured business plan not only supports an entrepreneurial journey, but also attracts potential investors and secures funding.
The Director, praised the participants for their active engagement and dedication throughout the period, emphasizing that the knowledge and skills they gained are essential building blocks for business success.
The programme coordinator, Itohan Odigwe, in her remarks stated that the youth had been taught how to create business plans that are attractive to financial institutions.
She urged the participants to put into practice what they had learned and to share this knowledge with others in their respective communities.
“We covered various modules on generating business ideas, identifying needs and wants, and then focused on practical exercises. During the practical sessions, the youth applied the concepts to develop business ideas and assess the potential outcomes. This exercise will help them create their own business plans after the workshop.” She said.
She further explained that the training is one of the requirements needed to access the National Youth Investment Fund, NYIF.
Two participants, Mr. Moses Odigwe from Delta State and Miss Fatia Kolejo from Lagos State, expressed their delight with the program, describing it as a beneficial program that allowed them to learn the right path to becoming entrepreneurs.
Certificates were presented to the participants at the end of the workshop.
