FG Set to Host Exhibition, Trade Fair to Commemorate Nigeria @60
The Federal Government has disclosed plans to host an Exhibition and Trade Fair from September 26th to 30th, 2021, which will bring together all relevant stakeholders from Nigeria’s 774 local governments and Area Councils of Abuja.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo who made the disclosure at a press briefing held in Abuja, noted that the event is aimed at fast-tracking and stimulating rural economic development through agricultural and allied industrial activities.
Adebayo further announced that the Exhibition and Trade Fair is one of the major events in the series of activities planned by the Federal Government to commemorate the Nigeria @60 celebrations in line with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to him, the Exhibition and Trade Fair is being organized under the auspices of the Nigeria @60 Ownership Sub-Committee /Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON and will be marketed and managed by a private sector operator, Red Sapphire Nigeria Limited.
Principal Consultant on the Nigeria@60 Trade Fair Project, Mr. Ono Akpe and MD/CEO of Red Sapphire, in a brief chat with newsmen after the press briefing, expressed optimism that the Exhibition and Trade Fair would attract participation and support from organizations across the private and public sectors, as this is a first of its kind event which had the potential of changing the fortunes of rural economies across the country for the better.
Speaking further Mr. Apke stated that, “the event will consolidate the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari at entrenching the unity, peace, and security of Nigerians as we celebrate 60 years of our Nationhood.
“The event slogan ‘Our diversity is our strength’ is conceptualized to further underscore Mr. President’s commitment in that regard. We therefore solicit the participation and support of relevant stakeholders towards ensuring a successful hosting of this grand event.
“It is expected that ALGON administration under the visionary leadership of Hon Kolade Alabi will galvanize all Local Governments in the country to participate at the Exhibition and Trade Fair, in order to showcase their areas of comparative advantage with a view to attracting investors at what promises to be a colorful event”, he concluded.
The five day event is part of a year-long series of events approved by the Federal Government to commemorate Nigeria’s Diamond jubilee.
The briefing was attended by an Integrated Marketing Consortium led by Principal Consultant to Nigeria @60 – ALGON Made in Nigeria Exhibition and Trade Fair, Mr. Ono Akpe of Red Sapphire Ltd. On the team are associate consultants Mr. George Igoche; Mr. Olu Adekunle and Mr. Sam Oburu.
The Project Director, Nigeria @60 Jubilee Special Awards, Mr. Femi Oyelade was also present at the media parley.
