Federal Govt Pushes for Wider CCB Awareness to Fight Corruption in Nigeria

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Honourable Idris received in audience, the team of Code of Conduct Bureau’s (CCB), lead by the Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Usman Bello

Minister Mohammed Idris, emphasised that awareness is key to preventing corruption and unethical conduct, noting that many public servants are unaware of CCB’s mandate beyond asset declaration.

“The CCB’s primary duty is to prevent infractions before they occur, not just enforce after offences are committed,” Idris said during a CCB delegation’s visit to the Ministry in Abuja.

Idris highlighted the need for sustained institutional collaboration, stressing that continuous engagement is essential for lasting impact. “This engagement should not be a one-off event; it must be sustained to deepen awareness, strengthen institutions, and promote ethical conduct in public service.”

The CCB Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Usman Bello, sought partnership with the Ministry for nationwide campaigns, media engagement, and capacity-building to boost compliance and promote integrity in public service.

Bello disclosed that the CCB is committed to leveraging the Ministry’s communication platforms to enhance compliance with asset declaration requirements and promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency in the public service.

The Ministry pledged full support, promising to amplify CCB’s activities to promote accountability across government institutions

This visit is good radiance that the Federal Government of Nigeria is stepping up efforts to strengthen the Code of Conduct Bureau’s (CCB), role in promoting accountability and transparency in nation’s public service through intensified public sensitisation.
