FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTED TO REPOSITION THE POWER SECTOR -ENGR. ABUBAKAR

Honourable Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu FNSE has retriated the commitment of Nigeria Government’s willingness to welcome more investors in a bid to reposition the sector.
This is contained in a statement made available to News Dot Africa today by the Assistant Director Press of the Ministry, Mr. Odutayo Oluseyi.
Abubakar, who received the delegates of European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS lead by EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi yesterday, Friday 11th March, 2022 at the Conference Room of the Federal Ministry of Power, Maitama, Abuja stated that President Muhammadu is committed and working hard towards repositioning the infrastructural development in power sector.
While explaining the Nigeria electricity supply industry value chain process, the Hon. Minister described European Union’s relationship with Nigeria as being supportive. He said more of EU collaboration in the renewable energy is welcomed and informed the delegates of Nigeria’s policy to expand the operation capacity of the Nigeria electricity supply industry (NESI) to 30,000 MW by the year 30.30 with 30% in renewable energy. He explained various interventions ongoing in the sector including the renewables.
Abubakar, further beckoned on investors to key into the available opportunities in the NESI since government has created the enabling environment through policy direction. He cited the Government to Government collaboration between the German Government and Nigeria Government which lead the Federal Government of Nigeria to sign a Power project deal with Siemens AG, a Germany base firm and urged the EU Ambassador to encourage European investors stating that there are rooms to accommodate more investors.
Speaking earlier, the EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS Samuela Isopi congratulated the Honourable Minister of Power on his appointment and the success recorded so far in the Power Sector.
Isopi affirmed the importance of Nigeria to the European Union, stating that EU is the largest grant donor to the power sector, and have in the last two years being developing a dynamic partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria, to re-lunched and boost electricity supply with a road map plan of action with priority areas.
She said that the cooperation framework in Green and digital economy, is to see that there is renewable energy and diversification which the EU is available to assist.
The EU Ambassador assured the Honourable Minister of Power, of the European Union continuous support in the challenges in the power sector.
