FAREWELL VISIT : All democracies face challenges, Says Ambassador Isopi

The outgoing m European Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Samuela Isopi has said that all democracies face challenges,
Isopi stated during her during her farewell visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday. She added that supporting democracy in Nigeria and Africa is much more important at this time.
She said. “All democracy in the world, including our own faces challenges, the journey is not necessary always in one direction. We all face this challenges. And we have an interest in working together to see how we can strengthen democracy because strengthening democracy in Nigeria means strengthening democracy worldwide.
“We know how important the example that Nigeria can give to other countries”, she said.
INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu thanked Amb Isopi for her role in strengthening the relationship between EU and member countries within the Africa region.
Ambassador Isopi’s farewell visit was a poignant moment, marking the end of her tenure in Nigeria. Yet, her words were laced with a sense of hope and determination, as she emphasized the European Union’s unwavering commitment to supporting democracy in Nigeria and Africa, acknowledging the challenges that lay ahead.
