Environmental Health Officers in FCT has redoubled their effort as part of the ongoing support to His Excellency Gov Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Abuja.
The State of emergency recently declared on Sanitation” has gained the support of Environmental Health Officers otherwise known as “Sanitation Official” as the ranks and files of the Professional Officers has thrown their resource and support to see that the Minister’s objective is realized in a short term as planned by the Minister. This was made known by Comrade Dankogi, the Secretary of the Association while speaking on behalf of his President, Comrade Demia Mbaramuko.
To further buttress his point, he made us to note that the Professionals are also planning to reach out to the Minister with a robust long term plan to achieve a permanent and sustainable city and green society in FCT.
“The Environmental Health Officers were keenly interested in this Sanitation concept and will wholeheartedly support the Minister because the decision will help to reawaken the consciousness of the citizens in way to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the citizen of the nation capital”, Dangoki stated.
He noted that dirty and unkempt environment is the major reason why people get sick and die. Therefore, preventive measure such as effective Sanitation is cheap, acceptable and affordable when compared in terms of cost, time wasted, pains when treating an ailments. “To show how committed the Officers were, they have began to provide Sanitation self reliance materials to communities in FCT inorder to bring back culture of Sanitation among the residents”, the Secretary stated.
Accordingly, in the weeks to come, Comrade Ismaila Haruna Dankogi has disclosed that, there will be more activities which will include; Motor Parks/Open Space Sanitation Exercise, Gardens Premises Sanitation, School Sanitation, Abattoir Sanitation, Hotels premises Sanitation etc. “With this ongoing robust plans, we are with no doubt, the renewed effort with the support of the Minister will yield positive and timely result. The situation whereby Motor park lined up with used tyres, stones and relics of irons along the street is an unsafe act capable to cause accident to the road users. Our resolved to join Minister in this very assignment will go along with reporting individuals and organizations with recalcitrant attitude for punitive measure. Hence, every residents and business owners are advise to begin to seat tight and contribute their quota in this ongoing position of the Minister to change the narrative of poor Sanitation in FCT. Our Environmental Health Officers will nolonger going to bark but will bite no matter how highly placed, we will abate and get you prosecuted as we will be more ever determine to wright the wrong and set the records straight.
