Egbona retains seat

Dr Alex Egbona of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has retained his seat at the House of Representatives representing Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency in Cross River State for the second time.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), He polled a total of 20,482 to stay in the Green Chamber.
His closest rival, Eko Atu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored a total of 13,471 votes to come second, while John Ifere of the Labour Party (LP) polled 10,845 votes to come third respectively.
Announcing the result on Monday at Ugep, the headquarters of the Federal Constituency, the INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Chike Ekeopara, said Egbona polled “the highest number of votes to emerge winner”.
Egbona, who is currently the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Downstream will return to the Nigerien Green Chambers for another 4 years. And as a second timer, he will be bestowed with the title of Right Honourable (Rt. Hon.).
