DR. EMMANUEL AGU TO CHAIR THE ADVERTISING STANDARDS PANEL

The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), has announced Dr. Emmanuel Agu as the new Chairman
of the Advertising Standards Panel. The Standards Panel established by section 53 of the Advertising Regulatory
Council of Nigeria Act No. 23 of 2022 is charged with the  duty of ensuring that advertisements conform with the
prevailing laws of the Federation as well as the Code of ethics of the advertising profession.

He will be taking over from Mrs. Omowunmi Owodunni who has been
Chairperson since 2022.

Dr. Emmanuel Agu is a Ph.D. holder in Marketing (with specialisation in
Marketing Communication) from Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.

He holds an M.Sc. in Media & Marketing Communication from Pan-Atlantic
University, an MBA in Marketing Management from Lagos State University, and a B.Tech (Hons.) in Agricultural Economics & Extension from the Federal University of Technology (FUTO), Owerri, Imo State.
Dr. Agu started his career as Senior Brand Manager, with Guinness Nig. Plc. (a Diageo Company), in 2006. He joined Nigerian Breweries Plc in 2013 as a
Marketing Manager. He moved to JOTNA Group Limited (The LaCasera Company)
Lagos, Nigeria in 2018 as Group Marketing Director.

As an experienced marketing leader, Dr. Agu has a proven track record of
directing and managing known brands like Mainstream Lager (Goldberg, Life
Beer, “33” Export & More Lager), Stout (Legend Extra Stout, Turbo King &
Williams), Lager (Gulder, Life Beer, “33” Export & More Lager), Stout (Legend
Extra Stout, Turbo King & Williams), La Casera Apple drink, Smoov Chapman, Bold Franchise, Nirvana Range of Water (Premium Table Water, Soda Water and Tonic

With many years of experience in the marketing space, Dr. Emmanuel Agu will
better position the ASP in the drive to uphold the ethics and standards of the
Council and advertising industry in general.

In line with the ARCON act, other stakeholders with representatives on the ASP are:

According to a press release made available by the Head, Corporate Affairs,
Winifred Akpan, “Each stakeholder is expected to be represented by one person. Dr. Agu will chair other panel members to perform the responsibility of advertising clearing house in line with the law”.
