DAVNOTCH CONCLUDES ITS FIFTH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP WITH SUCCESS

Davnotch Nigeria Limited has triumphantly wrapped up its fifth instalment of the prestigious tennis championship, held from July 13 to July 19, 2025, at the renowned tennis courts of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
This year’s championship attracted top-ranked Nigerian tennis players from both the local scene and the diaspora, all showcasing their exceptional skills and professionalism.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mallam Salihu Abubakar, commended Davnotch Nigeria Limited for their invaluable partnership in elevating tennis in Nigeria. He highlighted that their ongoing support is crucial for the advancement and development of sports within the Commission.
With the strategic RHINSE mandate bestowed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the NSC is dedicated to organising regular competitions across all sports disciplines, aimed at uncovering and nurturing new talent. This initiative aligns seamlessly with a broader vision to reform the Nigerian sports sector, shifting the focus from mere consumption to active production.
Dayo Akindoju, President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, expressed that the Davnotch Tournament significantly contributes to providing budding stars with global visibility, while also placing Nigeria firmly on the international sports map. He pointed out that Ikenna Okonkwo, who was discovered during the third edition of the Davnotch Tournament, is currently competing in the ITF J-100 tournament in Mexico, with future participation in Tunisia for further exposure.
Mr. Akindoju further emphasised that the Davnotch Open Championship stands out as a leading example of sports sponsorship driven by Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, speaker emeritus of the Delta State House of Assembly, who employs sports as a powerful tool for human development.
In the female team finals, Ms. Success Ogunjobi decisively defeated Bright Emmanuel with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-1. In the male division, Nigeria’s number one player, Adeleye Daniel, claimed victory over Canice Abua, solidifying Davnotch’s commitment to cultivating tennis excellence in Nigeria.
