CRS Prof Esu declares open workshop for World Bank

Cross River State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prof. Ivara Esu has declared open a four-day workshop organized by the World Bank for Cross River State Cordinating Office of Agro-Processing, Productivity, Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) in conjunction with CAPDEV CONSULTING LIMITED.

The event with the theme, “Capacity Training on Projects Financing Closure, Documentation and Reporting for Project Staff and Stakeholders is holding at Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya and two States are participating: Enugu and Cross River.

Declaring the workshop open, the Chairman of the State Steering Committee of APPEALS, His Excellency Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, OFR called on all participants (projects staff and stakeholders) to take advantage of the opportunity the event provides, to upgrade their skills and competence levels, get up to speed on current trends and development in public accounting, financial management and auditing.

He further stressed that the workshop provides all participants with a forum to discuss, share experiences, provide guidance and devise a strategy for the strengthening of the implementation of APPEALS programmes/projects in the participating States.

Assessing contributions made towards the project in the State, Prof. Esu commended the Cross River Coordinator, Dr. Marcel Agim for his top-notch performance and effective execution of the Agro-Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) project.

In her opening address, the Commissioner for Ministry of International Donor Corporation, Dr. Inyang Asibong walked the participants through the journey of the project, from its inception in Cross Rive State till date.

She commended the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for ensuring economic development through the empowerment of young persons through his Agro-industrialization policies.

The delegation from Cross River State is led by the Deputy Governor of Cross River State and Chairman of the State Steering Committee of APPEALS, His Excellency Prof. Ivara Esu and Her Excellency Barr (Mrs) Cecilia Ezeilo, Deputy Governor of Enugu State led the delegation from Enugu.
