Crossjof Urges Atiku’s Gender Aide on Women Advancement

Cross River Journalists Forum has urged Special assistant on gender and women advancement to the PDP presidential candidate , Atiku Abubakar on the need to ensure women are given befitting attention as the campaigns towards the 2023 elections buildup.
The Chairman, Comrade Ignatius Ushie stated this during a courtesy call to Dr Bassey in her office in Abuja.
Dr Bassey, while recieving the delegation of Cross River journalists forum led by Comrade Ignatius Ushie, urged Nigerian women to participate more in political activities as a means of achieving inclusion.
Dr Lynne, a former house of assembly aspirant in Cross River State affirmed the challenges faced by women in politics, however she gave assurance of her principal’s commitment to ensuring that women who venture into politics are given a level playing ground and the necessary assistance to succeed.
She also cautioned that power is not given to anyone, but taken so it is necessary for women to venture into active politics, if they must be visible to be seen and supported.
Citing her case, she said though she lost the seat in the election she contested, she considers the election won as it served as a pedestal for her to be seen which has led to her present position. She further revealed that her office has several interventions planned for women which go beyond stomach infrastructure to core wellbeing and health.
On his part, the chairman, Crossjof, Comrade Ignatius Ushie applauded the vision of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for creating a special desk for women, advancement, a move which he described as timely. He also lauded the appointment of Dr Bassey a social development expert to fill the role .
Ushie tasked Dr Bassey to ensure that her impact is felt by Nigerian women even beyond the elections while also pledging Crossjof support in the fulfilment of her mandate via information dissemination.
Other delegates from Crossjof include, Francisca Ogar, Secretary, Idara Ukpayang, Treasurer, Godwin Tawo, Assistant Secretary, Leonard Oru, Welfare Officer, Clinton Agbor Ayuk, Liason, Margaret Larry and ChrisMario Ugbong.
