He expressed his regard for the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs as a “critical ministry which deserves special attention”.
According to him, “ when you handle a woman well, you have a good world; but in our own country, we mishandle gender issues.”
The special visitor to the Minister commended Dame Tallen for the innovation she adopted in handling women and gender-based issues since she assumed office. He also commended her rare gesture of holding a meeting with her predecessors to draw from their experience, adding that he is simply following the example of Pauline Tallen by also coming to her as his predecessor in the Office of the Deputy-Governor of Plateau to draw experiences from her.
Professor Sonni also commended the visibility which Dame Pauline Tallen brought to attend to the Office of the Honourable Minister and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
While responding to the encomiums poured on her person and her Office by her visitor, Dame Pauline Tallen thanked Professor Tyoden for visiting.
She stressed the importance of men collaborating with women to achieve the United Nations gender-mainstreaming through the “HEforSHE” campaign.
She said some Governors have been playing critical roles in anchoring this campaign by ensuring good representation of women in the State’s Executive Councils and other Government Offices. The Women Affairs Minister commended her visitor for the key role he has played in promoting women’s rights in Plateau State.
