Bangladesh and Nigeria Strengthen Ties Through Youth Engagement.. Expatriates in Kano applaud Interim Government on Diaspora voting

The Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria organized a seminar at Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) in Kano State, Nigeria, as part of the Youth Festival of Bangladesh. The event, titled “Harnessing the Capacity of Youth in Economic and Social Advancement: Fostering Bangladesh-Nigeria Synergy,” brought together students, faculty members, and expatriate Bangladeshis to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh, His Excellency Mr. Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in advancing society, economy, and bolstering relationships among countries. He paid tribute to the individuals who made supreme sacrifices during the mass uprising in Bangladesh in July-August 2024 and stressed the need for proactive roles to establish just, democratic, and prosperous nations.
The seminar included an interactive Q&A session and discussions on potential areas of collaboration between Bangladesh and Nigerian universities, particularly in agriculture, ICT, and social development. The High Commissioner also explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MAAUN and a private university in Bangladesh.
The event was seen as a significant step in strengthening ties between Bangladesh and Nigeria, with a focus on youth empowerment and collaboration in various sectors.
Earlier on 23 November afternoon the High Commissioner reached Kano and joined a lively discussion with the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Kano and its adjacent states. They expatriates were happy to receive the High Commissioner, discussing issues related to consular services, possibilities to further collaboration with Nigeria in various sectors. They particularly thanked the present interim Government for arranging scopes to cast their votes in the 13th National Assembly election from abroad.
