AZMAN AIR IS NCAA COMPLIANT TO MAINTAIN STANDARD

Azman Air, a private airline, follows the guidelines of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to advance the standard in its operations, said Mr. Sam Aderogboye, NCAA Managing Director, Public Relations.

Aderogboye made this known Thursday in Abuja during an interview with the Nigeria News Agency (NAN).

The chief executive said the airline has largely followed the NCAA recommendation following a series of incidents involving an Azman Air Boeing 737 aircraft.

He stated that in view of Section 35 (2) of the Civil Aviation Act 2006 and Part 1.3.3.3 (A) of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs) 2015, the NCAA has suspended the operations of all Boeing 737s in Azman’s fleet.

He added that the suspension was with immediate effect from March 15, 2021 until today.

According to him, the suspension should allow authorities to conduct an audit of the airline to determine the root causes of the incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

“The NCAA regrets the inconvenience this action may cause to the public, especially Azman air passengers, but the need to ensure the safety of air travel and protect the public interest cannot be compromised.

“The NCAA will continue to enforce its regulations in the interest of safety and will take any violation seriously,” he said.

In a related development in a NAN interview, a senior Azman Air official, who requested anonymity, said the airline was responding to concerns raised by the NCAA.

According to him, the NCAA is happy with the level of compliance the airline had experienced during the suspension to maintain the standard in the aviation industry.

“We stopped on March 15th. The NCAA suspended us due to incidents that occurred simultaneously and they decided to conduct an audit of our operations.

“We are responding to all questions raised by the NCAA, right now we are conducting refresh training, we have almost filled any identified gaps, we assure you that we will come back stronger and better.

“The NCAA is thrilled with our responses, as the NCAA general manager said last week. Yet we are on top of the maintenance situation but the questioned impacts have happened naturally, ”he said.
