The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has issued a press release to set the record straight about Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old inmate being held for kidnapping and murder. Contrary to misleading reports, Adeleye is indeed in safe custody at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri, Lagos.

According to the NCoS Public Relations Officer, DCC Umar Abubakar, Adeleye was remanded on September 26, 2024, and was produced in court on December 16, 2024. The court ordered that he remain in custody pending advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.

It’s worth noting that there was another inmate with a similar name who was admitted to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri for theft, but that individual was discharged on April 4, 2024.

The Nigerian Correctional Service is urging the public to disregard the misleading reports and to rely on credible sources of information. The Service is committed to ensuring the safe and humane custody of all inmates, as well as their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
