Ayade commended for creating Cross River State Export Promotion Bureau

Obong Prince Joseph Idiong, a member of the Governing Board of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council has praised the Governor of Cross River State Sen. Prof Ben Ayade, MON, for his initiative to establish a State Agency responsible for promoting export.
He made these comments while responding to a speech delivered by the Director General of the Cross River State Export Promotion Bureau, Mr. James Alicha Okpamu who played host to the high-level delegation of the agencies of the federal government to his office.
Obong Prince Joseph Idiong also congratulated Mr. Okpamu on his new appointment as the Director General of the Cross River State Export Promotion Bureau and pointed out that without these partnerships, your Agency and indeed Cross River State may not be able to draw down any achievements.
“For me, you’ve done the right thing and it’s timely too, your requests are doable and the NEPC will support you.” he said.
The visiting Governing Board Member who led Mr. Damian Omorogbe and Mrs. Sylvia Adeneye officials of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council and Mr. Imoh Akpan of the Nigeria Shippers Council on a courtesy visit to the office of the Cross River State Export Promotion Bureau, further stated that the bureau will be partnering with the agencies of the federal government in promoting export in a bid to create an enabling environment to deepen the export drive in Cross River State.
Mr. Okpamu welcomed the delegation and also took them on a tour of his office complex at Cross River Library Complex. In his speech, the Director General Cross River State Export Promotion Bureau explained that the bureau is the State’s Export Trade Support Institution that facilitates the development and promotion of Cross River State exports and marine resources. Its focus would be to diversify and expand the State’s export base from the traditional export products and activities.
According to the District rector General, “the goal of the State Government is to engender industrial activities by supporting both small and large scale agricultural production and manufacturing for export to create an economic ecosystem of factories, storage and logistic companies that move raw materials to factories and finished goods for export.”
Mr Okpamu stated that “the Cross River State Export Promotion Bureau relationship with other organizations and critical stakeholders in the sector is expected to be collaborative in promoting and defining standards for the Export Quality Management.”
