ARCON DG. TO HOST WOMEN IN MEDIA CONFERENCE 2022

Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo the Director General, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), is hosting the next Women in Media (WIM), conference   themed: Why Not A Woman?’.

Joke Silva, Agatha Amata will also headline the nation’s top female media practitioners conference coming up on September 1, 2022, at the prestigious Lagos Centre for Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Center, Alausa Ikeja.

WIM which is staging a comeback post COVID-19, brings together women and other stakeholders to highlight, discuss and address issues of common interest, pertaining to the media landscape and the women.

In addition, WIM celebrates, acknowledges, promotes and encourages women who work in mass communication and have a role in influencing people to change their attitude, using entertaining and informative approach.

The 2022 edition has lined up an array of professionals and veterans to x-ray germane issues. Speakers include Joke Silva as Honorary President, whilst Madam Bimbo Oloyede will deliver the keynote address. Agatha Amata, Toun Okewale Sonaya, Ada Adeheke, Kenny St. Brown, Juliet Bumah and a host of others will serve as panelists.

According to WIM Founder and Clout Media’s CEO, Daisy Madu – Chikwendu: “This event is a great opportunity to enlighten and impact experiences on the women in the media on the possibility of accomplishing what hasn’t been accomplished before because of real or perceived limits. We will discuss and correct some prejudices, and even look at issues which are aberrations or normal in the society.”

She added, “We have been privileged to host these events for several years now, which comprises conferences, seminars, workshops, trainings, business forums, mentorships and award ceremonies. Previous awardees include Mrs. Joke Jacobs, Ms Comfort Obi, Mrs. Betty Iraboh, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, and the men that support women in media like Mr. Bisi Olatilo, Mr. Ben Bruce and a host of others.”

Madu-Chikwendu also added that an exciting new dimension to this year’s event is the involvement of women in music and the screening of creative works by women in media. “We wish to close the gap between the women in media and the hurdle of perception. This, we believe will result in the women in media attaining good and critical representation, and bringing about success not only in their chosen profession but that of other women,” she noted.
