The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) is urging President Bola Tinubu to confirm Captain Chris Najomo as the substantive Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). Najomo, a seasoned pilot with over 20,000 hours of flight time, has been acting in the role since last year and has made significant transformations in the regulatory agency.
AON leaders, Dr. Allen Onyema and Professor Obiora Okonkwo, praised Najomo for his zero-tolerance policy on safety issues and his efforts to make Nigeria an aviation hub. They highlighted his achievements, including:
– Ease of Doing Business: Streamlining aircraft inspection processes, reducing inspection time from over a month to just three days.
– Safety First: Ensuring aircraft and passenger safety, with a no-compromise stance on safety regulations.
– *Industry Growth*: Revolutionizing the sector, making Nigeria’s NCAA one of the best in the world.
Onyema and Okonkwo also commended President Tinubu for appointing Najomo and Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, who has helped Nigeria gain respect in the global aviation community.
Najomo’s leadership has earned him the nickname “Aviation Papa” among industry stakeholders. His confirmation as substantive DG would cement his legacy and continue to drive growth in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
