A’Ibom State Government Hosts NBS’S 2024 RETREAT.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno declared Open the Retreat for House of Representative Committee on National Planning & Economic Development, and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 at Four point by Sheraton, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom state.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, was represented at the event by the Honorable Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Almond Bob.

Governor Eno expressed his delight at the Retreat for the House of Representatives Committee on National Planning & Economic Development, as well as the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) decision to consistently choose Akwa Ibom as the most peaceful state to host their 2024 Retreat. This choice is seen as a testament to the state’s appeal as a preferred venue for such events.

During his address, Governor Eno commend the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and the House of Representative Committee on National Planning & Economic Development for synergizing together in order to chart and accelerate the production of the 2024 – 2028 National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) document, reviewing the Statistics Acts, 2007 and also updating the Rebasing of the Consumers’ Price Index (CPI) and Gross Domestics Product (GDP).

Governor Eno also assure the Statistician General of the Federation and the Chairman, House of Representative Committee on National Planning & Economic Development that in no distant time from now, Akwa Ibom State Bureau of Statistics will be inaugurated for effective collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics in the production of robust statistics in the State.

Indeed, this move will facilitate effective collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics, enabling the production of comprehensive and robust statistics for our dear state.

Chairman, House Committee on Economic Development and National Planning, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka expressed his appreciation to the Akwa Ibom State Government’s commitment in socioeconomic development and human capital development.

He further thanked Governor Eno for his efforts in establishing a framework for a successful collaboration between the Akwa Ibom State Bureau of Statistics and the National Bureau of Statistics. He also expressed his enthusiasm for the ARISE AGENDA.

The Distinguished attendees were Statistician-General of the Federation/CEO, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, Director Corporate Planning and Statistical Coordination, Augustine Anyakorah; Head of Donor Coordination Division, Samuel Adakole; Head of Department on Procurement, Audu Olokpo; Head of Department Legal Services and Board Affairs, Adewale Adeniji; Head of Prices Division, Dr. Anthony Ayo and many other esteemed members of the committee.
