The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), has called for the transformation of Nigeria’s agricultural sector into a key driver of industrial growth, job creation, and economic inclusion.

The call was made during the 11th Agrofood Nigeria Conference and Exhibition held in Lagos, where stakeholders from across the agribusiness value chain gathered to discuss strategies for strengthening food systems and boosting productivity.
Representing NACCIMA, Chairman of its MSME Committee, Chief Kola Akosile, emphasized the need for value-chain integration and stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors.

He noted that agriculture holds vast potential to stimulate industrialization if properly harnessed through investments, innovation, and supportive policies.
Akosile also highlighted the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area, stressing that Nigerian agribusinesses must position themselves to take advantage of expanded regional markets and trade liberalization.

According to him, unlocking the full potential of the sector would require deliberate efforts to enhance productivity, improve access to finance, and strengthen infrastructure across the agricultural value chain.

He reaffirmed NACCIMA’s commitment to fostering policies and partnerships that will drive agribusiness development and ensure sustainable food security in Nigeria.

The event attracted top government officials, diplomats, and industry leaders, including representatives from manufacturing, finance, and international development sectors, all united in their call for a more resilient and competitive agricultural economy.

The conference also featured plenary sessions focused on achieving world-class food security, with stakeholders agreeing on the need for innovation, investment, and regional cooperation to reposition Nigeria’s agriculture sector for global competitiveness.
