The President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians and the wider business community in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs, calling for renewed commitment to economic growth and reform.
In his Easter message marking the Easter celebration, the ACCI President urged entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate leaders to embrace Nigeria’s new tax laws, noting that compliance will significantly benefit the nation’s economic development.
“Adherence to these reforms will be to the benefit of our dear country,” he stated, adding that the new tax framework has the potential to eliminate multiple taxation, enhance transparency, and create a more harmonised and business-friendly environment.
Chief Obegolu acknowledged the prevailing challenges faced by businesses, including economic uncertainties, infrastructural deficits, and regulatory pressures. However, he described Easter as a season that symbolizes renewal, resilience, and opportunity.
“Easter represents new beginnings. It reminds us of the power of perseverance and the importance of unity in the face of adversity. As business leaders, we must continue to innovate, collaborate, and advocate for policies that support a sustainable and inclusive economy,” he said.
He further emphasised the need for sustained engagement between government and the private sector, noting that the success of ongoing reforms depends on effective collaboration, communication, and coordination. He also highlighted the importance of capacity building and awareness initiatives, particularly for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to ensure seamless adoption of the new tax regime.
As the voice of the organised private sector in the FCT, ACCI reaffirmed its commitment to promoting policies that enhance the ease of doing business and drive economic growth.
Chief Obegolu concluded by wishing all Nigerians, particularly members and partners of ACCI, a peaceful, joyful, and prosperous Easter celebration.
