ABUJA AIRPORT RUNWAY INCIDENT: Crew Members Evacuated Safely

A dramatic incident occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on December 11, 2024, when an Allied Air Cargo aircraft skidded off the runway. Fortunately, all five crew members on board were evacuated safely and taken to the FAAN clinic for further checks.

According to Mrs. Obiageli Orah, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, “We are relieved that there were no reported injuries, and we commend the Airport Emergency response team for their swift action in responding to the incident.”

The runway is currently being cleared, and operations are expected to resume as soon as possible. The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has begun investigating the incident, and a preliminary report is expected soon.

Mrs. Orah appealed to the public to refrain from speculation until the report is released, saying, “We would like to thank the aviation community and the general public for their understanding and patience. We request that all speculation be put on hold until the preliminary report is released.
