The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja has achieved a significant milestone by formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC) in Toulouse, France on Monday 23rd September 2024.
The delegation from AAAU, led by the Registrar, Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, proposed a strategic partnership with ENAC, outlining several key areas of collaboration. The MOU encompasses an Advanced Masters Programme tailored for industry professionals and an exchange programme designed for undergraduate students, aiming to facilitate knowledge transfer and academic enrichment.
Additionally, the proposal includes provisions for advanced training programmes for AAAU lecturers and explores opportunities for affiliated lecturing engagements for AAAU faculty members possessing expertise sought by ENAC.
This partnership is a follow up to an initial initiative of the Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN) which commenced in February, 2024 and it is anticipated to reinforce AAAU’s position as a premier Aviation University in Nigeria and a trailblazer in Africa.
The collaboration with ENAC, a National University of Civil Aviation under the French Civil Aviation Authority, will provide AAAU with access to a wealth of expertise and resources in the aviation industry.
ENAC, with its distinguished 70-year legacy in the aviation field, offers a comprehensive educational platform encompassing aeronautics engineering, flight/pilot training, and air navigation. The institution boasts a substantial student body, a wide array of training programmes, 1000 cutting-edge aircraft and Air Traffic Control (ATC) simulators, and a highly experienced faculty with over 890 permanent staff, including 1,400 affiliated lecturers and professors, 28,000 Alumni around the world and 350 continuing training sessions a year.
Notably, ENAC’s strategic partnership with AIRBUS, Europe’s largest aeronautics and space company, providing products, services and solutions for the commercial aircraft, helicopter, defence and space sectors, positions the institution as a pivotal player in aeronautics research and civil aviation education, offering valuable insights and opportunities for collaboration in this dynamic industry.
