In a heartwarming display of dedication, the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), reaffirmed its commitment to improving the lives of senior citizens across Nigeria. Director General Emem Omokaro, Ph.D., emphasized the agency’s mandate to create a supportive environment for older persons, highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing their well-being.
During a courtesy visit from Anambra State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Barr. Beverly Ikpeazu Nkemdiche, Dr. Omokaro stressed the importance of partnerships in achieving NSCC’s goals. “The well-being of our senior citizens is a priority, and we will continue to work towards a society where older persons are valued, respected, and fully supported,” she remarked.
The Commissioner expressed Anambra State’s interest in collaborating with NSCC to address challenges related to ageing and ensure senior citizens receive the care they deserve. With the elderly population growing, the need for collaborative efforts between federal and state governments has become increasingly pressing.
As the meeting concluded, NSCC’s commitment to senior citizens remained clear. With initiatives like income security programs, policy development, healthcare access, and age-friendly programs, the agency is dedicated to promoting the dignity and rights of older persons in Nigeria. Through partnerships and collective efforts, a brighter future for senior citizens is within reach.
