NSC Reshuffles Sports Federation Secretaries to Boost Efficiency

The National Sports Commission (NSC), has announced a reshuffling of General Secretaries across several national sports federations as part of efforts to strengthen administration, improve operational efficiency and enhance performance in Nigerian sports.
The Director General of the Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, announced the changes during a meeting with General Secretaries of the national sports federations in Abuja.
Olopade commended the secretaries for their professionalism, commitment and personal sacrifices towards the development of sports in Nigeria, acknowledging their continued support for the Commission since the assumption of office of its current leadership.
The NSC is led by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, with Olopade serving as Director General.
According to the DG, the reshuffling is designed to strategically deploy professional expertise across the federations to strengthen their administrative structures and improve service delivery in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope vision for sports development.
He clarified that the exercise should not be interpreted as a punitive measure against any of the affected officials.
“Let me be clear that no secretary is being removed because he or she has been sacked. They are only being posted to another federation to carry out another assignment. This is how much the Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and I believe in all our secretaries and their professional expertise,” Olopade said.
He described the General Secretaries as indispensable to the effective administration of sports in the country, noting that their roles are central to the Commission’s regulatory and developmental responsibilities.
“I have always said that the secretaries are the lifeline of our sports. They play a very critical role in the fulfilment of our mandate at the NSC to statutorily regulate and develop sports in the country, in line with the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he added.
New Appointments Across Federations
Under the latest reshuffling, Bunmi Oluode has been appointed Secretary General of the Athletics Federation, while the federation’s former Secretary General, Israel Inwang, has been redeployed to the Padel Federation.
In basketball, Rita Mosindi has been appointed Acting Secretary General, while Amina Amanchi, the former Secretary General, has been posted to the Rowing Federation.
Tosin Samuel will serve as Secretary General of the Shooting Federation, while Tinuoso Dolapo has been assigned to head the secretariat of the Karate Federation.
Similarly, Javan Bennard has been posted to the Fencing Federation as Secretary General, while Dorothy Okpo has been appointed Secretary General of the Arm Wrestling Federation.
The changes affect key administrative positions across the federations and are expected to support improved coordination and effective management of their respective sporting activities.
The Commission said the reshuffling forms part of its broader strategy to optimise administrative capacity, strategically deploy professional expertise and strengthen the effectiveness of national sports federations.
The initiative is also aimed at ensuring that the federations operate more efficiently in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly in sports development and the implementation of programmes designed to improve Nigeria’s sporting performance.
The NSC reaffirmed the importance of the General Secretaries in achieving its objectives, emphasising that their experience and expertise remain essential to the administration and development of sports nationwide.
