TCN Rejects Kaduna Electric’s Claim on Jos Supply, Says All 330KV Lines Jos are in Service

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has dismissed claims by Kaduna Electric alleging transmission constraints affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs, describing the statement as false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 27, 2026, TCN said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are currently in service and transmitting bulk electricity.
The company explained that the only recent incident occurred at about 3:30am on August 23, 2026, when the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened for voltage control.
According to TCN, the action was a routine operational measure undertaken to maintain stability on the national grid and was not a transmission failure.
The company said the line was successfully restored and returned to service at 11:59am on August 24, 2026.
“Since that restoration, there has been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to TCN,” the company stated.
TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify operational facts with the transmission company before issuing public statements, warning that inaccurate information could mislead electricity consumers and create unnecessary anxiety.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and efficient transmission of bulk electricity to Distribution Companies across the country.
It also appealed to electricity consumers in Jos and surrounding areas to disregard what it described as misleading information, assuring them that TCN would continue working with Distribution Companies to ensure stable and reliable power delivery.
