Tinubu’s Industrialisation Agenda Delivering Jobs, Innovation, Projects — Information Minister

ABUJA, Aug. 4, 2026 — The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is delivering measurable results through projects, job creation, innovation and expanded economic opportunities across Nigeria.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Presidential Media Team Tour of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) headquarters in Abuja, Idris said the initiative was designed to give Nigerians direct access to ongoing government projects and programmes, while strengthening transparency and accountability.
He explained that the media tour enables citizens to witness firsthand how government policies are being translated into concrete development outcomes.
“We want Nigerians to see for themselves how government policies are being translated into tangible projects, jobs, innovation and opportunities. Transparency is strengthened when government institutions actively engage the public, while accountability is enhanced when citizens can independently verify progress,” the minister said.
Idris described NASENI as a critical institution driving Nigeria’s industrial transformation through science, engineering and technology, with interventions spanning local manufacturing, renewable energy, agricultural mechanisation, digital technology and skills development.
He said the Tinubu administration remains committed to building a productive and self-reliant economy driven by innovation, local value addition and industrial competitiveness.
“Our vision is clear: to move Nigeria from being primarily a consumer nation to becoming a nation of producers, innovators and exporters,” he stated.
The minister added that the Renewed Hope Agenda places industrialisation, technology and youth empowerment at the heart of Nigeria’s economic transformation by creating an enabling environment for investment, enterprise development and sustainable employment.
He commended NASENI’s management and staff for advancing indigenous technology and engineering solutions that are strengthening the country’s productive capacity while reducing dependence on imports.
Idris also applauded members of the Presidential Media Team for promoting openness through factual, balanced and firsthand reporting on the implementation of key government programmes before officially declaring the NASENI media tour open.
Earlier, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, said the agency is implementing a practical industrialisation strategy centred on local manufacturing, technology transfer, healthcare innovation and research commercialisation.
According to him, NASENI’s interventions now span eight major industrial sectors across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Our goal is to build sustainable industries by designing products for the Nigerian market, assembling them locally, gradually increasing local content and creating factories that can compete globally. That is how we have been able to establish more than 20 factories within a short period,” Halilu said.
The event was attended by top presidential aides, including the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare; Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi; and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Communication and Citizen Engagement, among other dignitaries.
