Nigeria Police’s New AIGs Ewah, Itam and Ezima Receive Hero’s Welcome in Abuja

ABUJA – Three distinguished sons of Cross River State recently elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in the Nigeria Police Force were celebrated in Abuja as eminent personalities, family members, friends, and members of the Cross River community gathered to honour their remarkable achievements.
The colourful decoration and reception ceremony, held at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre, Jabi, celebrated the promotions of AIG Nnaghe Obono Itam, Ph.D., AIG Bassey Samuel Ewah, PSC (++), and AIG Akaniyene Ifebem Ezima, MNIPS, whose appointments have further strengthened the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force.
The event attracted an array of dignitaries, including senior police officers, government officials, traditional rulers, members of the legal profession, captains of industry, and prominent Cross River indigenes from across the country, all united in celebrating the distinguished officers’ elevation to one of the highest leadership ranks in the Force.
Guests described the promotions as recognition of years of exemplary service, professionalism, courage, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Nigeria.
Speaking at the reception, Commissioner of Police Barrister Law Alobi congratulated the three newly decorated Assistant Inspectors General, describing their elevation as richly deserved and reflective of their outstanding records of service, discipline, integrity, and dedication to duty.
According to him, the promotions are not only a personal achievement for the officers but also a source of pride for Cross River State and an inspiration to younger police officers striving for excellence in public service.
He urged the senior officers to continue upholding the core values of the Nigeria Police Force by providing exemplary leadership, promoting professionalism, and strengthening efforts aimed at enhancing national security and public confidence in policing.
Several speakers at the event also commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for recognising merit and rewarding excellence within the Force, expressing confidence that the newly promoted officers would make significant contributions to ongoing policing reforms and improved internal security.
A notable philanthropist, Barrister Abang Odok, said: “Their promotions demonstrate that hard work, integrity, dedication, and commitment to service remain the hallmarks of excellence. They have made Cross River proud, and we are confident they will continue to serve Nigeria with distinction.”
The reception, organised by the families of the three AIGs in collaboration with the Cross River community in Abuja, provided an opportunity for colleagues, associates, and well-wishers to celebrate the officers’ remarkable career milestones and their contributions to policing, national security, and public service.
