Barrister Abang Odok Ogar, Principal Partner of Armany Chambers (Abang Odok Ogar & Co.), has been honoured with the prestigious Trailblazer Award by NurseQuest Nigeria in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal profession, humanitarian service, education and community development.
The award was presented during the Grand Finale of the Nigeria Nursing Students Olympiad (NNSO) 2026, held on Friday, July 17, at the 520 Kolanut Centre in Calabar, Cross River State, where Barrister Ogar also served as a Special Guest of Honour.
In a letter dated June 28, 2026, NurseQuest Nigeria said the award was in recognition of Barrister Ogar’s exceptional commitment to justice, sustained philanthropic support for education, and selfless service to humanity.
According to the organisers, his scholarship initiatives for indigent students, provision of free legal assistance to the less privileged, and advocacy for social justice have made him an exemplary leader whose influence extends beyond the courtroom.
The organisation noted that his dedication to nation-building continues to inspire young professionals across different disciplines, particularly nursing students participating in the national academic competition.
One of Barrister Ogar’s most notable humanitarian initiatives is his annual donation of free wigs and gowns to graduates of the Nigerian Law School from Cross River State. He launched the programme in 2008 to ease the financial burden on newly qualified lawyers, and has won various awards.
The initiative has continued uninterrupted for nearly two decades, with the most recent distribution held in July 2026, marking its 21st edition.
The sustained programme has earned widespread commendation as a practical demonstration of his commitment to empowering young legal professionals and promoting access to justice through mentorship and support.
The Nigeria Nursing Students Olympiad is a national platform established to promote academic excellence, leadership, professional development and intellectual engagement among nursing students across Nigeria. This year’s event also celebrated individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted education, professional growth and national development.
