In a notice issued on Tuesday, the electoral body announced that interested media organisations intending to deploy journalists for election coverage are required to apply through its dedicated accreditation portal.

According to INEC, the accreditation portal opened on June 2, 2026, and will remain accessible until August 2, 2026.

The commission stressed that applications must be completed within the stipulated period, warning that no extension will be granted after the deadline.
“Interested media organisations wishing to deploy journalists for coverage are expected to apply via the online portal. The portal will automatically shut down at 12 midnight on Sunday, August 2, 2026, and there will be no time extension,” the commission stated.

INEC urged media organisations to submit their applications early to avoid last-minute challenges and ensure seamless accreditation ahead of the election.
