FG Approves 50% Train Fare Discount for Eid-el-Kabir Travel

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a 50 percent fare discount on all passenger train services operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation to ease transportation costs for Nigerians during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The initiative, announced by the Federal Ministry of Transportation, will take effect from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and run until Monday, June 1, 2026.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Funsho Adebiyi, disclosed that ticket fares on all NRC passenger train routes nationwide have been slashed by half within the period of the festive intervention.
He also stated that passengers who purchased tickets at the full fare before the announcement would receive a 50 percent rebate, which can be reused for train journeys on or before June 1, 2026.
According to the ministry, train schedules and timetables will remain unchanged throughout the period.
The ministry expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued support and extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful across the country, wishing them a peaceful and joyful celebration.
